Job Details

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Communicate effectively with preceding and succeeding shift material handler on daily basis.
  • Operate fork trucks and hand jacks in a safe manner at all times.
  • Keep all running machines supplied with material and concentrate.
  • Correctly fill out appropriate documentation for material allocation, material identification, production cards, special instruction tags and labels.
  • Collect and dispose of scrap parts and runners
  • Hand mix materials per specifications as required
  • Clean and/or fill hoppers, dryers, and blenders as required.
  • Verify cleanliness and properly assemble all required equipment for production, including basic electrical and air connections.
  • Relieve operators for breaks and lunches, requiring the ability to perform repetitive hand and arm movement.
  • Provide input for identifying root causes for material and equipment related failures and aid in providing suggestions for corrective actions and solutions.
  • Maintain work habits and safety procedures according to company policy and systems manual.
  • Maintain a clean and work area including all equipment.
  • Support and adhere to corporate mission, values, and policies
  • Performance is reviewed both yearly and on a rolling basis by your ability to:
    1. Maintain harmonious relationships with other employees and departments
    2. Provide support to shift leaders, technicians, and operators.
    3. Identify and follow through on opportunities for improvement in all related processes
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

Organizational Relationships:

  • The Material Handler I reports directly to the Shift Supervisor. They will interact with and provide continual support to Machine Operators as well as all other technical staff. They will rely on Process Technicians, Process Engineers, and Material Handler II for continual training on best practices and learning about new equipment as it becomes available on the production floor.

Experience and/or Educational Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Ability to lift 60lbs to shoulder length required
  • Ability to climb ladders required
  • Ability to bend, stoop, and squat required
  • Pass powered fork truck training test
  • Ability to perform repetitive hand and arm movement required
  • Ability to work standing or walking for an extended period of time required
  • Ability to see colors (i.e absence of color blindness) required

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to work a standard 40 hour work week with occasional overtime including weekends as a possibility.
  • Sitting and/or standing for an extended period of time as well as some walking within the facility.
  • Must be able to see with or without corrective lenses and distinguish color differences and depth perception for product and safety issues.
  • Hearing ability should be sufficient to hear and react to audible alarms from distances up to 100 feet.
  • The ability lift and carry various items up to 60 pounds.
  • Pass drug and physical screenings.
