Molding Lead Operator


Job Details

Summary of Function:

  • The Molding Lead Operator is a top level resource supporting daily production activities at Medbio. The primary function of the Molding Lead Operator is to provide training for staff, ensure the smooth movement of supplies and finished product on the production floor, and ensure accurate completion of required documentation.


Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Communicate effectively with preceding and succeeding Shift Supervisors and Machine Operators to understand production needs or problems that require resolution.
  • Make recommendations as appropriate to Shift Supervisors on how to assign staff based on available skills and training needs to maximize production.
  • Produce, inspect, and pack, acceptable product per work instructions and approved samples for shipment to customers.
  • Satisfactorily operate all jobs when necessary.
  • Oversee training of new temporary and full-time employees; coach mentor, instruct, and communicate, quality requirements to teammates.
  • Aid in the development of new product packaging and work instructions during the qualification process.
  • Assist MRB teams on the disposition of NMR’s and corrective actions.
  • Assist in keeping part information book current and accurate in regards to production releases, training logs, revision levels, process change logs, and lot numbers. Assemble and verify production books as required.
  • Daily review of part information books for accuracy; implement corrective action based on the outcome for daily review
  • Assist in organizing supplies and purchased goods to keep production flowing. Provide notification when critical supplies need to be ordered.
  • Assist Molding Shift Leaders, Set-Up Technicians, and Process Technicians/Engineers when needed.
  • Lead and maintain the overall cleanliness of the molding manufacturing areas on a daily basis, including proper storage of all equipment and supplies.
  • Ensure all molding machine operators understand and follow ISO-9001 and ISO-13485 procedures, as well as company policies and safety procedures.
  • Support and adhere to corporate mission, values, and policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned


Organizational Relationships:

  • The Molding Lead Operator reports directly to the Shift Supervisor. They will provide direct support to other Machine Operators in the performance of their duties, as well as other shift personnel. They will have direct interaction with members of the Management team to provide feedback on shift operations and other topics.


Experience and/or Educational Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 3+ years experience as a Machine Operator required
  • Ability to lift 25lbs required
  • Ability to perform repetitive hand and arm movement required
  • Ability to work standing or walking for an extended period of time required
  • Ability to see colors (i.e absence of color blindness) required


Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to work a standard 40 hour work week with occasional overtime including weekends as a possibility.
  • Sitting and/or standing for an extended period of time as well as some walking within the facility.
  • Must be able to see with or without corrective lenses and distinguish color differences and depth perception for product and safety issues.
  • Hearing ability should be sufficient to hear and react to audible alarms from distances up to 100 feet.
  • The ability to lift and carry various items up to 60 pounds.
