Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain deep knowledge of Medbio’s manufacturing processes, capabilities, and standards to provide expert guidance and recommendations.
  • Utilize technical knowledge in a commercial context to define problems and present effective manufacturing solutions to prospective clients.
  • Travel to customer sites to demonstrate Medbio’s capabilities and discuss tailored solutions, ensuring alignment with client needs and project requirements.
  • Collaborate with finance, sales, and project engineering teams to determine profitable and sustainable margins for new projects.
  • Collaborate with customers during the discovery process to collect essential project details, enabling the team to develop and deliver targeted solutions.
  • Work closely with project engineers and manufacturing teams to ensure that customer requirements are fully understood and effectively communicated and integrated into project planning and execution.
  • Actively participate in the sales process, assisting in the preparation of comprehensive quote letters via IQMS and Feasibility Reviews that showcase Medbio’s strengths and competitive advantages.

 

Organizational Relationships:

The Applications Engineer will report directly to the Technical Sales Manager at Medbio. This role is pivotal in upholding Medbio’s reputation for technical excellence and in driving the future growth and profitability of the business.

 

Experience and/or Educational Requirements:

  • Minimum of five (5) years’ of experience in a technical and/or technical sales role, with a strong preference for candidates who have experience in the medical manufacturing sector.
  • Proficiency in CAD model review (sectioning and measuring), engineering principles, and manufacturing processes related to polymers, Experience with a wide range of resins is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of business principles, especially in sales and marketing, with the ability to engage effectively in solution selling.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential. The role requires the ability to effectively articulate complex technical details with clients.
  • Experience working collaboratively with multiple departments to ensure a unified approach to sales and client management.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Plastics, Biomedical, Industrial, or related field) required. Will consider industry experience in the absence of a technical degree.

 

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to perform the standard practices required in this type of role within the industry, including frequent travel (10-40%) to customer sites, industry events and Medbio facilities
