Solving problems for our clients…

NATUS echo-screen®

When Natus® Medical needed their echo- screen® III infant hearing screener manufactured with tight deadlines and zero room for error, they turned to Medbio.

Project Outline

The echo screen needed to be highly chemical resistant to endure the rigors of a sterile hospital environment. It also needed to be BPA free due to the proximity of the device to infants.

End Result

The result was a collaborative project that produced the world’s first electronic medical device made from Eastman’s Tritan™ material. The echo-screen III is highly chemical resistant and BPA free. This project also resulted in Natus winning the R&D 100 Silver Award.

VENTILATOR SPLITTER

During the Covid pandemic crisis of 2020, a noted medical device manufacturer was tasked with producing critical components for ventilators as quickly as possible.

Project Outline

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic timing was the critical component in this project. Medbio’s PrototypePlus process was utilized in delivering finished parts on schedule.

End Result

Working over a weekend, Medbio’s team of journeyman toolmakers was able to produce a multiple cavity mold in just 72 hours! Because Medbio builds all of its tooling in-house, we were able to have a molding press prepped and waiting, and resin drying while the mold was still being built. Within just a few minutes of completion the mold was hung in the press, and within an hour Medbio was producing finished parts at a rate of thousands of pieces per day… much faster and with much more precision than the 3D printers that were being used in parallel on this critical project.
